Storyline I: An Introduction

& Storyline Revisited

Are you ready to learn what makes the Storyline Method so successful in the classroom?  The Storyline I: An Introduction course is for K-12 teachers who wish to learn how to integrate curriculum using the Storyline method.  Participants will experience a Storyline unit both as a student in the process, as well as observer of the teaching method.  Explore how and why the Storyline method motivates students to learn as they become their own ‘meaning makers.’

Would you like to revisit the method and still earn Portland State credit?  Then Storyline Revisited is for you!  The course is run concurrently with the introductory course and provides a refresher for people who are looking for the support and would like to work through a new Storyline topic. Portland State credit (3) available for both courses.

Storyline Alumni: Storyline and Literature-

Making Connections

with Jeff Creswell & Sallie Harkness

Using the Storyline method in the classroom and have taken the Introductory course? This class is for you! In the Alumni course you will experience how Storyline can help children to deepen their understanding and appreciation for literature in all forms. The basic Storyline principals and characteristics will be explored through this process. Participants will learn new ideas for writing their Storyline topics, as well as ways to infuse literature into their existing Storylines. They will have support to write a topic for use in your classroom.

This year we welcome back Sallie Harkness, one of the originators of the Storyline method from Scotland. Sallie’s area of expertise is early literacy. She has written a basal reading program incorporating Storyline, and has conducted Storyline workshops around the world.

Portland State credit (2) available.
